It’s grey and wet at the shop this January, so we’re being cheered up by all the wonderful new floral fabrics that have arrived – just what we need to keep us going through the dim days and remind us that the sun will return eventually! Here are a few of favourites…
Roses & Chocolate
Treat yourself (without the calories) with the new Roses & Chocolate collection from Sentimental Studios for Moda Fabrics. Deliciously decadent florals in shades of warm rose, rich cream, and eau de nil with chocolate brown accents feature masses of rose buds and blooms in a romantic celebration of abundance.
Use them together, or mix with white and pastel plains – these fabrics are perfect for all you lovers of soft, romantic quilts and the shabby chic look.
If you like your flowers with an oriental twist, the new collection Oriental Blue by the Henley Studio for Makower might be just the thing for you. These crisp prints are in the traditional blue and white of the Willow Pattern and indeed, the hand-painted designs have been inspired by traditional blue and white porcelain.
This is a lovely, fresh and clean-looking collection featuring small and medium stylised florals with a co-ordinating stripe that’s perfect for borders.
Lovers of a certain London drapery and haberdashery who find it outside their budget may just find that Moda’s new Regent Street collection (also from Sentimental Studios) is – well – right up their street! (Yes, we know – groan!) These are lightweight cotton lawns in delicate florals that will work not just for charming patchwork projects, but also for flirty, feminine garments and accessories.
The range has a good mix of colours with pinks, blues, reds and greens predominant and prints that include not just busy florals but also paisleys and some tone-on-tones for balance. We have Regent Street jelly rolls and charm packs as well as the usual fat quarters and off the bolt.
That’s all for now – but remember this is just a tiny selection of the fabrics we have in the shop at the moment. We get new ranges in every week, so do check back to the fabric page of our online shop, which is kept up-to-date as new fabrics arrive, or pop into the shop if you’re nearby. And of course, all regular fabric purchases are eligible for our loyalty schemes as well.
