This year we’re featuring two main exhibitions :
Where Stitch Takes Us from The Quirky Quilters presents a variety of quilts illustrating their journeys through the world of patchwork and quilting. Jenny Anderson, Linda Forey, Sarah Humphreys, Hilary Jackson, Gilli Theokritoff and Catherine Tyndall work in contemporary and modern ways, but with reference to traditional themes. The exhibition includes prize-winning quilts (including the winner of the Modern Quilts category at Festival of Quilts 2016), challenges and individual explorations of inspirations and ideas.
Inspirations of the Past from the Traditional Quilt Group of the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles presents images of vintage quilts from the Guild’s collections hanging alongside new versions made for this exhibition, using the same traditional patterns. The results are fresh and modern, but honour what past generations of quilters made.
We also have the smaller challenge from the Traditional Quilt Group called The Beat Goes On, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the very first heart transplant. The challenge features 13″ mini quilts all featuring red hearts.
The exhibitions are open Monday through Saturday until 26 August, and entry is just £2 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
