We are very pleased to welcome internationally renowned textile artist, Janet Bolton, to teach a new workshop called Hand-sewn Pictorial Textiles at The Bramble Patch on Friday, 23 November 2012.

Janet composes textile pictures using the simplest of hand sewing techniques. Her quirky, charming style is inspired by visual experience, memory and imagination, and often influenced by the qualities of the materials used. Her work is included in The Embroiderers Guild Museum Collection, the British Council Collection and the Crafts Council Permanent Collection.

Janet will show you how to create your own small applique picture, encouraging you to develop your own ideas – with help readily available. Working directly with the fabric, Janet will explain and demonstrate the simple sewing techniques she uses. She will also demonstrate the exciting process of cutting shapes, re-arranging and sewing down the various elements until a pleasing composition has been achieved.
