New demos, new teachers, new facilities!

Snippets is a regular post series where we round up lots of little bits and pieces about what’s hot, what’s happening, what’s new and what’s next. This time we’ve news about our Free Friday Demos, new teachers coming soon and a refresh of customer facilities.

New demo schedule now online

Free demos from the Bramble Babes on Fridays at 11 am

Our Free Friday Demos continue to be popular as we share our expertise and show our customers a variety of quilting and sewing techniques and small projects. Here’s what one of our recent visitors said about the demonstrations:

“Many thanks to your wonderful girls for the Multi Demo day yesterday. I attended all four demos and learnt such a lot. I have managed to get to many of your previous demos and return home supercharged with ideas. My thanks to you all.”

We’ve just finished planning the schedule of topics to take us through to Strawberries & Cream week, so do check our What’s On page for details of what’s coming up. If you’re free on a Friday morning, why not pop by for a cuppa and see what we’re up to? Demos happen in the shop, every Friday at 11.00 am. Remember, there’s no cost and no need to book, just show up and take a seat!

New teachers coming soon

We’ve recently booked some teachers that are new to The Bramble Patch for exciting and different workshops later this year. If you’re interested in taking any of these classes – or indeed any others – don’t forget you can book online (and check that spaces are available), or through the shop.

Heidi Street-Ward is a specialist felt-maker and an experienced teacher, as well as a member of the Northamptonshire Guild of Designer Craftsmen. Her workshop on Felt Making for Beginners will be on Friday, 19 September 2014.

Lynda Monk is a mixed media textile artist who uses non-traditional materials to create textured and unusual surfaces that can be further stitched or embellished. She is teaching a workshop called Creative Surfaces I on Saturday, 18 October.

Jane Cobbett is a quilt historian and collector with a passion for antique quilts; she will be teaching a workshop called Recycle & Reuse all about historical patchwork on Saturday, 1 November.

And, although we can’t get her this year, we are also pleased to have booked Janet Clare, the designer of the hugely popular Hearty Good Wishes fabric collection, to teach a workshop in 2015. We’ll let you know all the details about the workshop and the date as soon as it’s all available.

New look for Bramble Patch facilities

While the Easter Exhibitions are on (you only have until 19 April to see the fabulous work on display from Gillian Travis and the ICE group) we’ve taken the opportunity to give our customer facilities a bit of a facelift. Both the customer toilets and the main kitchen are being refurbished, redecorated and generally refreshed. (But you can still get refreshments too, and we’ve opened up the staff toilet so no worries on that score!)

We apologise for any inconvenience, but the work should all be finished by the time classes start again after Easter, so we hope you’ll appreciate our fresh new look.

That’s all our snippets for now, but if you want to be kept up to date, you can always sign up to get our news in your email inboxlike us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter or on Instagram. Or just pop back here to the website each week – we always have new fabrics added to the online shop, and new events on the What’s On page.
