It’s our annual celebration of summer, quilts & quilting, so come visit this week and help us raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Strawberries & Cream 2015 features…
Edwina Mackinnon and Catherine Nicholls join forces to unravel ideas. In this all-new exhibition, the two textile artists unwind the many thoughts and inspirations that arrive on a given day. Using dates of shared experience as a starting point, each artist has untwisted the events and ideas of the day and interpreted them in her own way. The resulting works share a starting point but inspiration has taken them in directions that are sometimes similar and sometimes remarkably different!
Celebrating English Paper Piecing
See some of the Bramble Babes in action, a variety of examples of this popular hand piecing technique and learn their tips for EPP perfection. If you’d like to join in with the EPP trend, we can also tell you all about our Mystery Club, which is still open to new starters. We’ve just passed 150 members, so you’ll have plenty of company!
The Danetre Quilters 2015 challenge : Stars
Danetre Quilters have as usual produced some fabulous work for their challenge, and they need you to vote for your favourite for Visitors’ Choice!
Heritage Quilt Raffle
You might remember our beautiful Heritage Quilt – the antique reproduction fabrics were donated by the Bramble Patch, and the quilt was designed by Claire Higgott, pieced by Eileen Burns and hand-quilted by staff, customers and visitors! We’re now raffling the finished quilt in aid of Macmillan, with tickets just £1 per strip. When was the last time you had five chances to win a beautiful, hand-made quilt for just £1?
There are also prizes of a workshop voucher, a quilt kit and fabric, and with proceeds going to Macmillan to help people struggling with the effects of cancer, someone wins always. And as usual, there’s, tea, coffee, scones, fresh English strawberries & lashings of cream!
Strawberries & Cream Week runs until 5 pm on Saturday 13 June, so we hope to see you soon!
