Gratitude by Jo Morton (+giveaway)

Edit 22 September 2016 : Slightly later than anticipated, we have a winner! Ernestine Parsons is the winner of our Gratitude mini sewing kit, so Ernestine, please get in touch to let us know where to send your prize. You can private message us on Facebook or Twitter, email us at with your address or just give us a ring on 01327 342212.

It’s been ages since we did a free fabric giveaway, so we thought we’d do something a little bit different for this one!

Gratitude is a new collection by Jo Morton, a fabric designer who is new to the Moda Fabrics stable but who has been designing quilts and teaching for many years. She is a particular fan of traditional fabrics and patterns that re-create 19th Century antique quilts. Imitating the colours and styles of period pieces, using an antique quilt as a source of inspiration, she creates an interpretation – a quilt that might have been made in the 19th Century.

Gratitude is a collection of primarily small prints, but with a lovely larger scale feature stripe as well. The patterns feature 19th century floral, sprig and leafy motifs.

In warm brick reds, soft cocoa brown, cinnamon, parchment and dusty teal, these fabrics are perfect for scrap quilts and traditional designs like hexagons. Use them together for an antique feel, or mix them with lighter creams for something more rustic in style!

Our giveaway this time is something slightly different – we’ve put together this lovely little mini-sewing kit featuring a pack of Gratitude mini charms (2 1/2″ squares), a spool of Mettler Silk Finish cotton thread, and a pack of John James hand sewing needles. And it all comes in a lovely little reusable Moda tin saying “Quilters gonna quilt”!

Win this lovely little mini sewing kit in a Moda tin!
