Hexagons have always been a favourite for hand stitching and EPP, so this Mini Treasure is a true celebration of the six-sided shape we all know & love. But the clever part of this block is the use of colour/print placement to achieve the finished effect of this mini quilt. Take one little hexagon as the central starting point and then stitch eight rounds of hexagons around it to create this stunning hexy heaven.

The original sample, shown in the illustration was created using a previous collection called ‘Crystal Lane’. However, your kit includes a charm pack from the Snowman Gatherings IV by Primitive Gatherings collection for Moda and a long or fat quarter of co ordinating fabric from the collection, to create the background hexagons to complete the corners of the block. This fabric collection offers a more subtle light, medium and dark colours compared to the original and can create a festive Mini Quilt if you fussy cut the snowman prints or an ‘all year round’ Mini Quilt if you ignore the snowmen and cut your hexagons from the fabric surrounding them.

The paper pieces used for this design are ½” hexagons and we have included a couple of sheets of paper templates for you to cut out & use.
