Keyboard Brights Cushion Cover Kit
Makes one 18" x 18" cushion (please note the fabrics may vary from picture but will be the same colour pallet)
Lucy Boston (1892-1990) was famous for writing her series of Green Knowe children's books, for her wonderful garden full of old roses and scented plants, and for the restoration of her Norman manor house at Hemingford Grey, Huntingdon. She was also a dedicated patchworker making over twenty beautiful coverlets entirely hand-pieced over papers in the English Paper Piecing (EPP) method.
This kit is based on one of her most famous coverlets, Keyboard.
This kit includes a curated selection of fabrics chosen to evoke the spirit of the original, along with instructions for EPP, pre-cut papers and template plastic to help with fussy-cutting- this "precision cutting" of fabrics is one element that made Lucy's work so special. She herself said:
"Interesting patterns can be made by cutting out particular details in the material and using them to make symmetrical figures of their own. This, of course, means very wasteful cutting whereas the original notion of patchwork was economy."
Included in the kit:
- 4 x Fat Eighths of Assorted fabric
- 1 x Fat Quarter of Background fabric
- 1 x Fat Quarter of linking squares & border fabric
- 1 x Fat sixteenth of linking squares fabric
- 90 Pre-cut English Paper Piecing Templates
To complete the cushion you will also need:
- 1 x 20" x 20" piece of Wadding
- A 18" Square Cushion Pad
