Glorious Octagons - Mystery Club 2022 - hand piecing Block of the Month

Bramble Stitcher Alicia has created an exciting new Mystery Quilt for 2022 for all those stitchers who share her passion for hand sewing. And for the new year we have a new challenge which celebrates the delightful shape of the OCTAGON. And for 2022 we are presenting you with more tailored, fabric options and monthly boxes of fabric & patterns delivered to your door.

We have been offering our customers Mystery Clubs for seven years now and we always aim to ensure that each year we not only offer you a unique, original design but that we always provide you with a manageable amount to complete each month / week and that our stitchers are always learning or developing new techniques. And our Glorious Octagons Quilt continues this style, as this year there are two options for creating your quilt:

Quilt-As-You-Go - each block completed can be created as a Quilt-As-You-Go piece - this allows each block to be quilted by yourself - either by hand or machine - and then at the end of the year we will provide you with comprehensive instructions to bring all the blocks together in a quilt. This encourages you to truly enhance each block individually and allows you to use smaller pieces of wadding & backing that you may have accumulated from previous projects..... OR
Sashing and cornerstones - each block can be surrounded by sashing and cornerstones (added along the way each month) with all the blocks stitched together at the end of the project. This method allows any additional borders you may wish to add at the end (please note the original design does not include borders but this can be discussed individually).

The quilt is HAND PIECING using the English Paper Piecing technique and the finished size will measure approx. 66” x 66”. The paper piece templates are created by drafting out the blocks on suitable graph paper using the illustrated patterns supplied each month.

New for 2022 - your subscription each month will provide you with a project box to complete TWO blocks and will include the following:

Eight LONG eighths of fabric from your fabric selection
Four 16ths of blender fabrics
Pattern sheets

In addition you will need the following:

2.75m background fabric - this is for background & sashing whichever method you chose to construct your quilt
a Creative Grids 12" or 16" Graph paper pad - all block patterns must be drawn out this paper and then cut out to create the paper templates used in the paper piecing (size dependent on which method you chose to construct your quilt)

We can supply you with both of these at an additional cost - just give us a call and we can take your order & payment over the phone and they can be despatched with your first box.

How much does it cost? £25.00 per month for 12 months - first payment will be taken on the 28th December with the first box being despatched MID JANUARY. Please note if you subscribe between 29th December Monday 17th January a one-off payment will be taken to allow your first box to be despatched.

We have shown you a selection of the fabrics for each of the options but your quilt is designed to be a 'scrap' quilt so we will send you fabrics each month which we will have selected for colour / pattern based on the block design.
