Mini Treasures sew by hand
We simply couldn’t resist exploring a Bramble Patch favourite quilt design for our mini treasures collection and so we have created for you a miniature version of Lucy Boston’s Patchwork of the Crosses.
Lucy Boston (1892–1990) was famous for writing her series of Green Knowe children’s books, for her wonderful garden full of old roses and scented plants, and for the restoration of her Norman Manor house at Hemingford Grey, Huntingdon. She was also a dedicated patchworker making over twenty beautiful coverlets entirely hand-pieced over papers in the English Paper Piecing (EPP) method. This mini quilt is based on her most famous coverlet, the Patchwork of the Crosses. Lucy said
“Interesting patterns can be made by cutting out particular details in the material and using them to make symmetrical figures of their own.”
