As many of you will know, Bramble Patch is supporting Alzheimer’s Society for a second year and we had plans for events during Dementia Action Week, which was to take place 11–17 May 2020. In light of the Covid-19 outbreak, the charity has taken the difficult decision that the fundraising week is postponed until later in the year (date to be confirmed) but we want to continue to raise the awareness by launching our United We Sew charity quilt. When the current coronavirus crisis is a distant memory, we will still be battling this cruel disease and we want to do what we can to continue to support research and support for dementia sufferers and their families.
One of our suppliers (EQS) has generously donated a delightful Forget Me Not fabric and we are asking our creative customers to purchase a fat sixteenth of the fabric for a donation of £1 + £1 p&p, then make a patchwork block for our charity quilt(s). And you don’t have to make just one block, make as many as you can including your piece of fabric (or purchase more pieces).
Please then send us your completed blocks and we will join them together to make as many beautiful quilts as we can, which will be raffled to raise further money for Alzheimer’s Society. All donated blocks will be included in the charity quilts we will make up, so please don't think your work isn't good enough!
Your blocks can be sewn by machine or hand (using English Paper Piecing) with the following guidelines:
- if you use a background fabric in your block it MUST be WHITE
- machine pieced blocks must be finished size 6”
- hand pieced blocks must be finished size 7”
- your blocks can be returned as soon as you have completed them
- we will confirm the final submission deadline as soon as the new date for Dementia Awareness Week is announced
Thank you, as always, for your support; we know our customers are generous and caring!
